Synthetic Biology High School Outreach (march 2017)
Facilitated an outreach event for an AP Biology class of 56 students at Pattonville High School in St. Charles, Missouri.
This lab allowed the students to get hands on experience with basic molecular biology and microbiology techniques (i.e., bacterial cell culture, transformation of DNA, visualizing fluorescent reporters, etc.).
SEAS Education Outreach (May 2011–May 2012)
SEAS Education Outreach is a program where students travel to elementary and middle schools to teach about environmental issues related to the ocean and create awareness.
Arranged the outreach events and recruited/trained new volunteers to aid in presentations.
Cared for the live animals (starfish, crabs, sea urchins) used in the lectures.
Established new relationships with schools at a state-wide teacher’s conference and directed presentations at ~20 Title I schools.
